Analysis

Shambo Shiva Shambo is remake of Tamil hit film, Nadodigal. Samuthirakani who also directed the original has remade it. The basic plot line – A real friend will be there for you – is interesting and novel. True to the unique idea, the movie starts off rather promisingly. Indeed, till the interval, it is very engrossing. Thereafter, it suffers from lethargic pace, non-happening scenes and weak climax. The director has tried to convey the message that ‘friends always go against all odds to help their friends’ love but the lovebirds are not valuing it and failing to nurture their relationships after love succeed’. Unfortunately, this message has not translated onto the screen rightly, instead we get the feeling that the director is trying to tell us that if friends help lovers, their life would be spoiled.

No doubt, it is a realistic film on the friendship but the screenplay and the situations don’t really suit the tastes of Telugu audiences. More so, the second half looks more like a TV serial. Added to these, dull dialogues and unimpressive songs have further spoiled the show.

Performances

Ravi Teja in the lead role has given apt performance. He is the main strength to the flick. Among other actors, Allari Naresh ’s comedy and his performance stand out. Shiva Balaji and Priyamani are okay. Newcomer Surya Teja, the lover, has done neat job. Sunil and Krishna Baghavan in brief roles provide laughter. Rest of the cast like Tanikella, Roja, Kota, Ahuti, Sudha and others have done justice to their characters.

Among the technical aspects, Muttaih’ s camera work is appreciable. Editing is weak; the editor should have trimmed the movie for at least 20 minutes. Sundar.C Babu’s songs are nothing much to write about except title song. Director Samuthirkani has proven his 'intelligence' in pre-interval scenes.

Bottom-line!

Concept wise, Shambo Shiva Shambo has novelty. Even the first half is entertaining and interesting, only after the interval it completely goes wrong track. On the whole, it is okay film but it could have better movie if the director has concentrated on second half.
